Spoke Pockette is rooted in the idea that even the smallest gardens can become part of something bigger. A tucked-away front bed, a parkway, a narrow side yard — each space adds beauty, habitat, movement, and life back into the neighborhood. Through thoughtful native planting and layered design, our goal is to create gardens that feel deeply personal while quietly helping reconnect people, pollinators, and place.
Garden Design + Installation
Every project begins with a paid consultation that includes walking the space and paying attention to light, soil, structure, how you move through it, how you want it to feel, how you want to live in it.
From there, we develop a long-term vision and implement thoughtfully.

Garden projects vary depending on size and scope. Most full design + installation projects begin around $7,000 and include custom design, site preparation, plants, and materials such as mulch.
Many clients choose to build in phases over time.

Oak Park Lawn Overthrow | Before: a tired patch of lawn with good bones and a lot of untapped potential.
Fresh install day: turf removed and the first wave of native plantings settling in.
Year one: the garden starts knitting itself together with texture, movement, and seasonal color.
Second spring: layered growth, stronger structure, and a front yard beginning to hum with life.

Before: a soggy strip of struggling turf along this Oak Park fence line wasn’t doing much besides collecting mud and frustration. Time to turn an awkward shady side yard into something intentional. 🌿
One day flip! We transformed this difficult, soggy fence line into a layered shade garden with river rock edging, fresh mulch, and plantings chosen to thrive in the conditions instead of fight them. Small spaces can still feel thoughtful and finished.
Fresh mulch, soft river rock edging, and shade-tolerant native plantings helped turn this narrow Oak Park fence line into a cleaner, more intentional garden space designed to fill in beautifully over time. 🌿
Before: a beautiful historic Chicago home with good bones, but the front garden was overgrown and hiding the architecture.
After: a cleaner, more open front yard with defined bed lines, fresh plantings, and room for the house to breathe again.
Same view, totally different feeling. The garden now frames the home instead of swallowing it.
Native grasses, soft texture, and layered plantings bring movement back to the foundation beds.
After: garden path view, a softer entry with shape, structure, and little moments of color unfolding through the front yard.
Still young, but already more intentional. This garden will keep filling in, changing, and getting better each season.
Side yard prep: a narrow Berwyn side yard after turf removal, fresh bed shaping, preserved milkweed, and mulch. Not finished yet, but the bones are in.
Gravel, river rock, a rain barrel, native prairie plants, and a cleaner edge turned this side yard into a more functional, habitat-friendly garden space.
River rock softens the foundation edge while young native grasses and perennials begin settling into this newly planted Berwyn side yard.
The backyard had existing plant life worth saving, but it needed editing, weeding, and a clearer plan.
After removing weeds and non-natives, we added pollinator perennials and native grasses to bring more rhythm, color, and habitat into the backyard. Can't wait to see it blossom as the seasons tick on!
Before: a plain Berwyn front yard with good bones, but not much direction yet. The space was ready for softer edges, better flow, and a planting plan that felt more alive.
Before anything goes in the ground, Julia lays out the plants like a composition. Color, height, texture, and future growth all get considered before the first hole is dug.
The hands-on part. Every plant gets placed with intention, not just for how it looks today, but how it will move, fill in, and support the garden over time.
The first layer is in. Young plants, fresh bed lines, and those red tulips holding the drama while the perennials settle in.
